ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN

John Eaton and Company has, since it was formed, worked across a broad spectrum. Architectural design commissions have covered commercial, industrial and health projects as well as the prestigious conservation of historic buildings. The home has been a key focus with large individual houses figuring prominently in the work undertaken. In addition to architectural design a specialisation in the alternative contracting and procurement methods is a central part of the practice involvement with other professionals working on construction projects. The Practice has working associations with other architects, planning consultants and engineers working in the East Midlands, East Anglia and London.

Dr Eaton has always been aware of the importance of continuing development and is committed to working with groups of like-minded professional to develop expertise in the field of project briefing. This is an area which is little understood and often inadequately applied. Yet it has a profound effect on the long tem success of all projects: systematic analysis from inception to completion is central to their success.

The Practice is responsible for an extensive range of architectural design projects and specialist work. These include individual homes, significant office buildings both new and refurbishments, specialist health care and specialist consultancy. At the heart of the Practice is the conviction that the boundaries of knowledge are continually changing and that it is imperative to continue to learn and to learn quickly. Changing circumstances dictate mew methods and an awareness of emerging constraints. In the field of ecology and sustainable construction the Practice now works with other specialists to ensure that these aspects of development are intelligently and effectively handled.

The primary objectives of the Practice are to provide speed, value and certainty while developing buildings that have value in themselves and to the people who use them. The Practice aims to provide balanced, individual designs for all projects without preconceived ideas of the final form they will take.
